Titanium

TITANIUM

LACS offers superior titanium coatings by enhancing conventional cold spray.

With LACS, titanium deposited at similar gas conditions of CS show a step change in material behaviour.

The addition of laser heating provides a superior failure load increase of 300% with a cost drop of 10x when processing with nitrogen.

Titanium coating thickness

Can exceed 5 mm while coating density exceeds 99 %.

Machined LACS titanium deposit on (a) 50 mm diameter steel tube and (b) Section of a 7 mm thick titanium deposit on steel substrate

When compared with nitrogen based cold spray, LACS titanium displays improvements in both cohesive strength and coating adhesion.

LACS deposition of titanium has been demonstrated with gas conditions ranging from room temperature 30 bar to 650°C, 65 bar N2 with deposition site temperatures ranging from 700 to 1100°C on titanium and steel substrates.
